Let's Explore Chicago!

Inspiration

What inspired us was our passion to travel. Since none of us have been to Chicago before, we decided it would be a great idea to 'plan' out a little vacation there. We compiled a list of places we wanted to visit and got to learn so much about the city and its history in the process!

What it does

We constructed a website that details Chicago’s iconic landmarks, history, dishes, sports, and some fun facts about the city. We wanted to create a website that all travelers can enjoy. For instance, people who are interested in sports can look into our sports section or those who travel for the experience of a new cuisine can check out our famous dishes page!

How we built it

We used Replit, and then committed it to Github! Using HTML and CSS.

Challenges we ran into

For some of us, it was our first time using HTML and CSS, so learning the languages as we made the website was challenging. We ran into lots of issues like the creation of columns. :(

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of working under a time limit in different time zones! The four of us are all in different states and/or time zones, but we managed to schedule a time to collaborate.

What we learned

As cheesy as it sounds, we learned how to work together as a team, and how to ask for help.

What's next for Let's Explore Chicago

We’re definitely looking forward to our next hackathons! We all plan on having computer science and programming as a part of our careers in the future. This hackathon definitely helped grow our confidence in ourselves and collaboration skills!
