Inspiration
Our project, ReLeafLoop AI, focuses on making eco-friendly and low-cost paper using fallen leaves and agricultural waste. Today, most paper is produced by cutting trees, while large amounts of leaf waste and farm waste are burned or thrown away, causing air pollution and environmental damage. Our solution uses artificial intelligence to convert this waste into useful paper without harming forests.
AI helps in selecting the right mix of fibers, controlling moisture during the process, and checking paper quality using computer vision. This ensures consistent quality and reduces material waste. Since the raw materials are easily available and almost free, the overall production cost is much lower than traditional paper.
We also produce seed paper that can be planted after use, supporting a circular economy. ReLeafLoop AI aims to reduce pollution, save trees, and provide affordable paper for schools, offices, and government use while creating a sustainable future.

🌱 ReLeafLoop AI – Project Story 💡 Inspiration
I was inspired by the large amount of fallen leaves in cities and agricultural waste in farms that are usually burned or dumped. At the same time, the paper industry still depends on cutting trees. This creates pollution, harms animals, and damages the environment. I wanted to build a solution that uses this waste in a useful way and reduces the need to cut trees.
📚 What I Learned
Through this project, I learned about paper-making processes, fiber extraction, and the role of AI in optimization and quality control. I also learned how AI models can reduce waste, improve consistency, and lower production costs. Understanding circular economy concepts was another key learning.
🛠️ How I Built the Project
I designed ReLeafLoop AI as an AI-enabled system that converts leaf waste and farm waste into eco-friendly paper. AI is used to optimize fiber mixing, control moisture, and detect defects using computer vision. The system also tracks environmental impact such as trees saved and waste reused.
A simple cost idea is:
Lower Cost
Low-Cost Raw Material + AI Optimization Lower Cost=Low-Cost Raw Material+AI Optimization ⚠️ Challenges Faced
The main challenges were ensuring paper strength from leaf fibers, maintaining consistent quality, and designing a scalable process. Learning how to apply AI concepts to a real-world manufacturing problem was also challenging but rewarding.
This project represents my vision of using AI to build a sustainable, low-cost, and scalable solution for the paper industry.
