In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the world witnessed a sudden shift towards online education. However, this transition often resulted in reduced student engagement and attention. At LearnQuest, we were inspired to address this challenge by providing a solution that redefines the online learning experience. We believe that education should be as immersive and captivating as attending a live sports event or performance. Our goal is to make learning an unforgettable experience, ensuring that students eagerly embrace their education.

What it does

LearnQuest is a revolutionary platform designed to empower students from diverse backgrounds, including those with disabilities or learning difficulties, by offering access to world-class educators. Our platform introduces groundbreaking features such as audio captioning, making education accessible to the deaf and hard of hearing community. Additionally, we have incorporated AI-powered teaching assistants, which act as non-playable characters (NPCs) within the virtual classroom, providing personalized support and enhancing the learning experience. Our platform boasts a user-friendly UI that enables seamless navigation through different scenes, making learning an enjoyable journey.

How we built it

LearnQuest was meticulously crafted using Unity and C#. We immersed ourselves in extensive documentation reading and countless YouTube tutorials to gain a deep understanding of VR development. Our journey involved rigorous testing and experimentation, coupled with unwavering determination and countless sleepless nights.

Challenges we ran into

During the development process, debugging emerged as a significant challenge. With limited access to VR headsets for testing, our progress was slowed as we could only realistically test on a single device. This limitation added considerable time to our development schedule and required creative problem-solving.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

LearnQuest allowed us to explore the realms of VR development and gain valuable insights into the world of game development. We pushed ourselves into an uncomfortable situation, tackling a field we had limited prior knowledge of, and emerged far more knowledgeable and experienced.

What we learned

Our journey with LearnQuest was a profound learning experience. We acquired extensive knowledge in VR development using Unity, mastered the use of a MetaQuest, and gained a firsthand understanding of the challenges posed by testing in the evolving VR landscape.
