Inspiration
We've all experienced wanting to learn something new but not knowing where to start, which often leads to frustration and eventually giving up. We realized that a simple roadmap could make a huge difference, guiding learners through their educational journey.
What it does
Learnify addresses this issue by providing comprehensive roadmaps that simplify the learning process. Paired with an interactive UI, it makes learning engaging and more manageable.
How we built it
We are a team of four college students. We started by designing the entire UI in Figma. For the frontend, we used React and Tailwind CSS, while Supabase was utilized for authentication and database management.
Challenges we ran into
As beginners, we encountered several challenges during the hackathon. We dealt with merge conflicts on GitHub, backend issues, and difficulties in creating the UI. Positioning elements with Flexbox was particularly challenging as things would overlap or not align correctly.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are incredibly proud of creating a fully functional, high-quality website that can help others like us. I never thought I could develop a full-stack project this quickly. The teamwork was amazing, with late-night calls discussing the project at 2 AM being both productive and fun.
What we learned
I (Abhishek Anand) learned how to create visually appealing UIs using Tailwind CSS and gained a lot of experience with Figma thanks to Prakhar. Prakhar and Abhishek Mishra learned a lot about backends, databases, and connecting them to the frontend, while Priyanshu and I focused on frontend development. We all improved our skills in using Git and GitHub for large projects like this.
What's next for Learnify
For the future of Learnify, we plan to:
- Enhance its speed and performance.
- Add more courses and subjects.
- Make it responsive for multiple devices.
- Implement experience points, leaderboards, and daily streaks to keep users engaged.
Overall Learnify has been a very good experience for us and we intend to keep building stuff.
