ResourceSync: Smart Water Management for a Sustainable Future Inspiration Water is one of our most precious resources, yet it is often wasted due to undetected leaks, inefficient usage, and poor management. The inspiration for ResourceSync came from real-life scenarios where unnoticed leaks caused significant damage and wasted water. As engineers, we wanted to create a solution that empowers households and offices to monitor, manage, and conserve water effectively, ensuring a sustainable future for all.

What it does ResourceSync is an all-in-one water management system designed to tackle water wastage and inefficiency. It provides users with real-time insights, proactive alerts, and actionable recommendations to manage their water usage smartly.

Key Features:

Real-Time Water Monitoring: Track water usage across households or offices with instant updates. Smart Leak Detective: Detects micro-level leaks and sends alerts based on severity. For major leaks, it automatically shuts off the main water supply to prevent wastage. Water Quality Monitoring: Checks water quality parameters such as pH, turbidity, and temperature, ensuring safe and efficient usage. Predictive Maintenance: AI-powered insights predict potential risks like pipe wear or joint leaks, enabling preventive actions. User Dashboard: A comprehensive interface for viewing water usage, savings, leak history, quality reports, and tailored AI tips. Gamified Savings Rewards: Encourages users to save water by rewarding them for meeting conservation goals. Community Forum: Connects users to share tips, discuss water-saving strategies, and promote sustainability. How we built it Hardware:

ESP32 Microcontroller paired with flow sensors to measure water usage and detect leaks in real time. DC motors integrated to shut off water supply automatically in case of severe leaks. Water quality sensors to monitor pH, turbidity, and temperature. Software:

Backend: A cloud-based Node.js server using for data storage and analysis. Frontend: A user-friendly web dashboard built with React, displaying real-time water data, insights, and historical reports. AI/ML Model: Trained on water usage patterns to predict potential risks and recommend conservation tips. Mobile App: Developed using React Native for alerts, remote management, and gamified rewards. Integration:

MQTT protocol for real-time communication between devices and servers. Firebase Cloud Messaging for instant notifications. REST API for seamless integration across platforms. Challenges we faced Ensuring accurate detection of micro-leaks using affordable sensors was technically challenging. Training the AI model required collecting and synthesizing diverse water usage datasets. Designing a seamless user interface that balances complexity with simplicity took several iterations. Accomplishments we're proud of Successfully detecting and alerting users about minor leaks before they escalate into major issues. Integrating AI to provide actionable insights and predictive maintenance alerts. Developing a comprehensive solution that combines water monitoring, quality checks, and community engagement into one system. What we learned Throughout this project, we learned how to integrate IoT hardware with cloud-based platforms for real-time monitoring. We also gained experience in leveraging AI for predictive analytics and building a user-centric dashboard that delivers actionable insights.

What's next for ResourceSync: Expanding features to include energy-efficient water heating solutions. Partnering with real estate companies to provide water usage and quality history for potential homebuyers. Scaling ResourceSync to larger communities and integrating it with city water management systems. Incorporating machine learning models to refine water usage recommendations and risk predictions further. Why ResourceSync matters By addressing water management holistically, ResourceSync not only helps individuals save water but also fosters a culture of sustainability. It empowers users with actionable insights, making every drop count toward a better and more sustainable future.
