Inspiration
Everyday, millions of people play League of Legends, a MOBA video game. However, there has only been one main game mode, classic on summoners rift. Many other popular games are open to mini games or other ways to expand their game, but League of Legends never seemed to have this quality. Because of this, we decided to use Bitcoin to create a new way to play this popular game.
What it does
League Bet allows for people to use their instincts based off of the previous record of the players and the champions on the opposite team to earn Bitcoins. Users can choose to bet on the team they believe will win the game with against their friends and people all over the world, creating a fun environment where people can be awarded for their guesses, bringing a unique new perspective to League
How we built it
We built this using BitCoin as the currency, Coinbase for authentication and payments, Node.js to build the betting functionality, Socket.io to store data, HTML/CSS for a website and the Riot API to check the users guesses.
Challenges we ran into
We had never used Bitcoin as a currency before, and we had no prior experience with socket.io and Node. It was very difficult to stay awake.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of creating a fair way for players to bet with each other
What we learned
We learned how to us Bitcoin as a currency, socket.io, and Node.js.
What's next for League Bet
We are trying to add mini games where people can compete for bitcoins, betting in a winner-take-all situation.
