Our project was inspired by the constant struggle of planning a hangout between my friends and me. Oftentimes, we can never figure out a day when everyone is free, people always responding way too late, and others never being able to think of something to do. Hence, LE-Outings was created; LE-Outings essentially simplifies the difficulty of planning a trip with everyone. Everyone would make a specific user profile with a unique username and specify their dietary restrictions or their mode of transportation. Then, someone would create a group/event which asks where the destination is, a time window to go out, whether or not it is a local trip, and any extra notes, then the owner would invite everyone. Once people join the group, they will fill out an event profile, which gathers everyone's availability for the next 10 days, a personal budget, their food preferences if they are craving anything, and any specific event that a person wants to do. Once everyone's event profile is submitted, the AI sweeps through the web and builds a full day itinerary with alternatives to account for everyone's different preferences, and if the plan is bad, you can add a suggestion to recreate the itinerary. The main challenge that we faced while building this was creating the PRD. This was because we originally had an idea, but we found out after building the first ui prototype that the flow wasn't going to work, so we had to recreate the PRD and the Use-Case Flow, which took up a lot of time. An accomplishment we are proud of is the fact that it actually works and actually produces a really cool trip that even I wouldn't mind doing with my friends. As a team, we learned that building a successful project requires a very intensive planning and requirements phase. What's next for LE-Outings: Quality Assurance and Heuristic Evaluations, add notifications, accept/decline/remove friends, improved ui, choosing a spot on the map instead of listing it out, combining Gemini and Anthropic APIs to create a better flow of web searching.
