Inspiration
Every year, thousands of founders spend countless hours and dollars building products that nobody wants, while Venture Capitalists spend weeks manually mapping markets and analyzing pitch decks. We realized that the traditional "due diligence" and validation process is incredibly slow, biased, and often creates echo chambers where founders only hear positive feedback. We wanted to build a platform that strips away the sugarcoating and gives founders and investors a brutally honest, data-driven analysis of any startup idea in seconds.
What it does
LaunchLens is an intelligence-driven venture validation platform that dissects, analyzes, and "roasts" startup pitches. A user simply enters their startup idea, and our system generates a massive, venture-grade intelligence dossier. It provides a Vulnerability Index identifying fatal market flaws, a Competitor Matrix, a Deep ICP Analysis, and Funding Velocity metrics to evaluate the startup from the perspective of a Tier 1 VC.
How we built it
We built the application with a heavy emphasis on a premium, dark-mode glassmorphic UI to make it feel like a high-end financial tool. We used Next.js and Tailwind CSS for the layout, combined with Framer Motion for the sleek micro-animations. We used Zustand for complex local state management across the dashboard and Firebase for backend data. Finally, we integrated a Multi-Model AI Engine (using Gemini 1.5 Pro and Groq) to ensure our market analysis and "roasting" logic was as intelligent and nuanced as possible, and added Novus for product analytics.
Challenges we ran into
One of our biggest challenges was wrestling with strict TypeScript configurations, particularly when typing complex animation variants in Framer Motion and ensuring our global state perfectly matched our AI-generated data interfaces. Additionally, managing the UI state for the highly complex "Competitor Matrix" and ensuring the AI outputs were formatted predictably required heavy prompt engineering and state synchronization.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are incredibly proud of the UI/UX design. We managed to build an interface that feels genuinely futuristic and premium, utilizing complex CSS gradients, glassmorphism, and responsive 3D-like elements. We're also proud of successfully orchestrating multiple AI models to generate a cohesive, multi-page report from just a single text prompt.
What we learned
We learned a massive amount about integrating external analytics (like the Novus Web SDK) directly into a modern Next.js architecture using custom scripts. We also leveled up our TypeScript skills by solving complex type inference issues across our global store and components.
What's next for LaunchLens
We plan to integrate live web scraping to pull real-time pricing data from competitor websites directly into the dashboard. We also want to implement a feature that automatically generates a 10-slide Pitch Deck (PDF) based on the validated idea, and finally, connect the platform to the Crunchbase API for live funding velocity data.
