Inspiration
We love music, but music can make or break the moment of the party! No one likes a bad DJ that plays songs at the worst time. So we created Kyoo!
What it does
Kyoo allows the crowd to recommend songs that they want, or they believe that the whole crowd will want. They do this by entering a 6 character code that will join the session that the DJ is on. The DJ is in control of the music, of course, and can see the recommended songs that the audience selected! Based on the favorable songs, they will "queue" up with the songs that are most liked/recommended.
How we built it
We built this project into a web application using Python and Django for the backend, and React.js for the frontend.
Challenges we ran into
Some challenges that we ran into were some merge conflicts which we lost some files/pages that we needed which consumed a good amount of time.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Accomplishments that we're proud of is that we were prepared for this hackathon, and we were completely new to web development. We were able to get pages up and functioning using React and Django.
What we learned
We learned how to utilize React for the frontend and Django for the backend.Through this project, with continuous persistence and hard work, we have gotten used to the process of designing the UI beautifully.
What's next for Kyoo
We will turn this web application into a mobile app, which will make it much easier to access for people using this app.
