Inspiration The disconnect between different levels of government and the people creates a lack of trust in the community. In an effort to unite all residents of Red Hook (and communities that introduce Kiosk+ technology), we hope to gain knowledge on what the commnity wants, from the community
What it does
The machine is a survey box, although the concept is for the invention to be a starting point for future implementations.
How we built it
Half the team designed the container that holds the computer that is the center of the polling technology. The other half developed the webpages and text message mechanisms.
Challenges we ran into
Plenty. Not having enough time. Software incompatibility. Our microSD card got corrupted.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We created a finished product that can be presented in time. We built something that members of the community really feel would be useful to them.
What we learned
How to crunch out lots of code and rhino files in a short amount of time. How to enjoy ourselves but also work hard.
What's next for Kiosk +
More features that would be useful to the community. Information hubs, charging docs, map based and work based resources.
