Inspiration
We wanted to use the Muse headband for something fun
What it does
The game shows the player a scary scene, and then uses the Muse headband to monitor signals and decide if the player is scared
How we built it
We used Node.js and socket.io to build a server that could interface and take the raw input data from the Muse headband
There was a brief calibration period in which the player's brain waves were monitored while watching a calm scene and while watching a scary scene
We then did some statistical analysis on the raw data to get ranges of values for the player when they are scared and when they are not and used this to decide if the player moved to the next level or lost the game
What we learned
We'd never worked with the Muse headband before so we had to learn how to interface with it, and how to analyse a large amount of raw data
What's next for Keep Your Damn Eyes Open
Endless possibilities! A range of new games like "Don't laugh", "Don't be amazed" etc.
