Inspiration

Consumers returned an estimated $428 billion in merchandise to retailers last year, approximately 10.6 percent of total U.S. retail sales in 2020. Returns mean unnecessary packaging and shipping (carbon prints). One of the most common reasons for a return is that the product isn’t what the customer had expected or hoped for. Since the customer doesn’t have a chance to view or try on the item in person before purchasing it, they’re even more likely to end up disappointed with what they receive. At Viverie we have been exploring different ways to allow clients to see how a products look like on them.

What it does

Kaya takes photos of a garment and virtually try on models.

How we built it

We fine-tuned Stylegan2 with our extensive database of T-shirts.

Challenges we ran into

Teaching AI to learn to draw T-shirts on model photos is easy, but it is challenging to expand to other categories.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Kaya is able to deliver good results on T-shirts.

What's next for Kaya

We will be exploring way to extend virtual try on beyond T-shirts.
