Inspiration
In helping Indigenous Women get the reach they need across the country, we created KanataHub, a centralized and accessible space where you can get the support and information you need in your area, anywhere. We wanted to create one hub that brings multiple resources together in a clear, user-friendly way.
What it does
Users can browse programs, discover support tailored to their needs, and access important information in one place. The platform highlights initiatives such as Indigenous support programs, wellness resources, and community services, making them easier to find and access. However, admins are able to see analytical data for each programme. This data also includes drop-off rates and heatmaps.
How we built it
We designed KanataHub as a high-fidelity prototype using Figma, focusing on strong UI/UX principles and accessibility. Our design process included user story mapping, wireframing, and iterative prototyping. We emphasized intuitive navigation and simplicity, especially for admins and stakeholders who need to understand the site's data.
Challenges we ran into
- A lot of information to compress into comprehensible data
- Balancing visual design and functionality
- Creating features that make sense for the user
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Extensive data and irreplaceable research on programmes
What we learned
Through building KanataHub, we learned the importance of user-centered design and thoughtful information architecture.
What's next for KanataHub
Next, we plan to expand KanataHub by integrating real data from community organizations and developing it into a fully functional application. Future features could include personalized recommendations, search filters for specific needs, and partnerships with local organizations to keep resources up to date.
