Inspiration

Running an eCommerce retail can be tricky, It gets even tougher when you plan to expand your business to multiple sales channels. As we know that more than 90% of the Indonesian workforce work in Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) but only 8/50 MSMEs in Indonesia have adopted digital technology, making them the key engine to economic growth. Going multichannel allows them to expose their products to different kinds of customers, generate more revenue, and expand their brand presence.

Customers prefer to ‘browse-and-buy’, rather than ‘search-and-buy’, giving the marketplace model a clear edge over other modes of eCommerce selling. Hence, it is imperative for businesses of all sizes to be present on multiple marketplaces & other sales channels, necessitating a platform to cut through the complexities.

What it does

Jualan is a multichannel eCommerce management platform that is equipped with smart inventory management which allows you to focus on growing sales rather than wasting your resources to manage inventory. It helps sellers to sell online by helping them register across the marketplace. It helps sellers register and manage their online business across marketplace platforms.

  1. Sell products on Popular Indonesian eCommerce Websites like Tokopedia, Shopee, GoShop, GrabMart, BliBli, Bukalapak.
  2. Open or Close your market to any eCommerce website in one click.
  3. Manage inventory of products at only one Place.

How we built it

We have used flutter for application development, Node.js for backend development, and Figma, prototype, wireframe for UI/UX designing.

Challenges we ran into

As two of our teammates were participating first time in Hackathon, there were a lot of challenges that we went through as a team. However, in the end, everything went well. Two of us are Indians and for our idea to work we needed some Indonesians in our team. Since Jualan was targeted at small Indonesian traders, we wanted the application to be built on local language which should be easy to use for local traders, yet impactful application to help them sell their products online on top Indonesian eCommerce websites. As the popularity of online business continues to boom, we decided to do just that.

The second challenge that we ran into is creating a website that can easily be introduced and integrated into the Indonesian lifestyle from all walks of life, whether they are rich or poor. Therefore, our team decided to deconstruct the application down into easy categories and tabs, keeping it simple and not cluttered with words, which prompts easy navigation.

The last big challenge is creating the application itself. Our group is composed of two non-coders, and therefore, one of us worked on the backend, one on application, and 2 designed UI/UX. It was hard navigating around it at first, but after a while, we are able to figure out the layout and find things easily.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We managed to build an app (although definitely not perfect) in 2 days

What we learned

Communication with teammates from different countries and brainstorming different ideas before settling on this one.

What's next for Jualan

We can add more features such as barcode scan and gamification (for monetization)
