Jou3an

Inspiration

What inspired this project is that we are all students and there are people eat certain type of foods such vegan or halal. Therefore, Jou3an is an app that allows users to find a place that conforms to their dietary restrictions.

What it does

Jou3an first gives the user a list of dietary restrictions using the user interface and then gives a list of restaurants that meet the user's criteria.

How we built it

We used Python to run our code, things such as the GUI we had to down the Tkinter module on python to help us display our final result.

Challenges we ran into

The main challenge was building the GUI because we started coding in Java but we quickly realized that was too difficult so we switched to python which had built-in modules that are used to create GUIs.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We were able to make it run and it did what we wanted it to do. We're proud that we all came to the decision to change to Python since we had start from scratch and in the end we still managed to make the code and the interface work.

What we learned

We learned a lot about the Tkinter module, it was the first time we were exposed to this module.

What's next for Jou3an

Our plan is to integrate more options for the user such as the number of calories that they want to eat and the nearest locations that offer that kind of food.
