Inspiration

Some cultures are on their way to be extinct/forgotten, we wanted to reduce friction for people to engage with culture, not only during travel, but also on the daily.

What it does

JejakLokal uses GPS to track your position. If you stay at a certain spot, JejakLokal will notify you of nearby interesting cultural items.

How we built it

Backend: FastAPI, Cohere, GMaps API, Eleven Labs Frontend: Next.js, Tailwind, React

Challenges we ran into

Got banned from API services for "suspicious activity" lol. Our 4th email did the trick.

We plan to add a recommendation system that allows users to view culture through their preferred lense. Whether it's food, art, or history, JejakLokal will narrate your surroundings based on your interests
JejakLokal aims to empower, we will partner with local businesses to create a better user experience and expose underrated culture to the world
As our userbase grows, JejakLokal can also compile useful analytics for other businesses
