Investucation: Empowering New Investors 🚀

Inspiration 💡

Many students find the world of investing daunting and complicated. Terms like "ETFs, Mutual Funds, Bonds, Stocks & GICs" seem foreign and unapproachable to newcomers. Investucation — a blend of Invest and Education — was conceived to demystify these concepts in an accessible way, enabling new investors to grasp them quickly and gain confidence in their investment journey.

What It Does 🌟

Investucation offers a friendly and inviting interface where users can set financial goals. Users then take a Risk Assessment Survey, which calculates a score to determine their investment risk tolerance — a crucial aspect of financial strategy planning.

Based on their risk tolerance, users are guided to suitable investment avenues, with detailed insights into each investment type, including pros and cons. Users also have the option to explore other investments for educational purposes.

Interactive quizzes with real-world scenarios help users learn the best course of action, enhancing their financial literacy. Each selection provides guidance towards the correct choice, with feedback for less ideal options.

How We Built It 🛠️

Investucation leverages React.JS & Next.JS for the front-end, Figma for UX/UI design, and Tailwind CSS for styling, creating a seamless and responsive user experience.

Challenges We Ran Into 🚧

Simplifying complex financial concepts for new users was a major challenge. We focused on the core aspects of each investment type, avoiding overly technical jargon. Additionally, integrating team members unfamiliar with React and JavaScript was addressed through pair programming, emphasizing learning and collaboration.

We're proud of creating a beautiful, responsive UI that motivates users to explore our app further and simplifying financial knowledge effectively. Our financial calculations and projections provide accurate and valuable insights to users, regardless of their financial literacy level.

What We Learned 🎓

Our diverse team, comprising hackathon veterans and newcomers, highlighted the importance of thorough planning. This approach enabled clear goal definition, efficient work division, and focused development. We also discovered the value each member brings, pooling a wide range of skills and knowledge to overcome challenges and define a clear vision for Investucation.

What's Next for Investucation 🔮

We envision transforming Investucation into a more dynamic platform, enriching it with interactive features that empower users to test their investment strategies using real-world data, such as live stock market prices and current interest rates. Users will have the opportunity to "experiment" with virtual funds, enabling them to forecast their financial future and gain insights into potential gains and losses.

Additionally, we plan to implement a login feature that delivers customized investment advice based on individual user behavior. This personalization will be made possible by securely connecting to users' bank accounts to analyze spending habits. The insights derived from this analysis will be fed into a finance-specific language model, crafted to provide bespoke investment recommendations and lifestyle suggestions.

We want to be able to elevate Investucation into a trans-formative educational tool, with the goal of becoming a personalized financial advisor that evolves in tandem with our users' needs.
