Inspiration

In a world overwhelmed with informational content, we recognized that traditional learning platforms often miss a crucial ingredient: intrinsic motivation. Our team believes that genuine, profound learning stems from this kind of motivation, and yet, it's glaringly absent in most modern platforms. The spark for IntrinsicAI came from the realization that people are most driven when they are building or pursuing something they're genuinely excited about. We wanted to bridge this gap and make learning resonate on a personal level for each individual.

What IntrinsicAI does:

IntrinsicAI leverages the power of Generative AI to offer personalized, project-based learning experiences for each user. Users begin by submitting their project idea. The platform then assesses whether this idea can be realistically brought to life using just HTML and CSS, the foundational languages of web design. If feasible, IntrinsicAI creates a bespoke learning pathway — a comprehensive course outline combined with tailored tutorials, all aimed at steering the user to the successful completion of their dream project. For ideas that may not be immediately executable with just HTML and CSS, our platform provides alternative project suggestions, ensuring alignment with the user's original vision. This method guarantees that learners remain immersed in projects they're passionate about, continuously fueling their intrinsic motivation. Due to the limited timeframe of a hackathon environme we are chose to reduce the sale IntrinsicAI to just focus on HTML and CSS for now. However, our flawless mvp demonstarates that this can be scalable for more topic and subject areas.

How we built IntrinsicAI

We integrated GPT-4 based API calls to analyze project feasibility, suggest alternatives, generate personalized course outlines, tutorials, and even check code implementations against user goals. Our backend is built with Python, using Flask for API endpoints. Front-end interactions and user experience are designed to be intuitive, guiding users seamlessly from idea submission to project realization. Our platform emphasizes personalization, ensuring that the learning experience is always tailored to the individual's project vision.

Challenges we ran into.

Interfacing with GPT-4 and ensuring that the generative model provides relevant and accurate suggestions was a significant challenge. Handling edge cases where project descriptions were either too vague or too complex also required thoughtful consideration. Ensuring a seamless user experience, where learners felt the progression from their project idea to the generated course content, was essential, and achieving this required numerous iterations.

We're proud to have developed a learning platform that places the learner's vision and intrinsic motivation at its core. Successfully integrating GPT-4 to guide users from idea conception to project realization in a personalized manner is an accomplishment that we believe can reshape how people approach learning.

What we learned

Throughout the development of IntrinsicAI we learned the power and potential of Generative AI in reshaping educational paradigms. We deepened our understanding of how intrinsic motivation plays a pivotal role in learning and realized the importance of personalized, project-based learning approaches. Technically, the nuances of interfacing with GPT-4 and ensuring that the responses align with user goals added a layer of depth to our understanding of AI implementation.
