Inspiration

The lack of support for women in the workplace inspired us to create InHerShoes. We wanted to develop a platform that empowers women to advocate for themselves and navigate challenging scenarios confidently.

What it does

InHerShoes is a 2D interactive game where players assume the role of a woman in the workplace. Players interact with NPCs and respond to real-life scenarios, learning strategies for self-advocacy and addressing toxic behaviors.

How we built it

We developed InHerShoes using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to create an interactive and engaging 2D game. The game logic is implemented in JavaScript, while CSS is used to design an intuitive and visually appealing interface. We focused on a smooth user experience with responsive design to ensure accessibility across different devices.

Challenges we ran into

Creating meaningful scenarios that accurately represent workplace challenges was difficult. Balancing gameplay with educational content and ensuring the game remains engaging while delivering impactful messages also proved challenging. On the technical side, integrating interactive elements with smooth user experience and debugging various performance issues with the game mechanics added to the challenges we faced.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We’re proud of creating a game that sparks meaningful conversations about workplace dynamics. The art style and interactive storytelling make sensitive topics approachable and relatable. Receiving positive feedback from early testers validates our mission.

What we learned

We learned about the complexities of translating real-world issues into interactive media. Understanding diverse perspectives and ensuring inclusive representation in our game design was a significant learning experience.

What's next for InHerShoes

We plan to expand InHerShoes by adding more scenarios and integrating resources for women to learn about their rights and develop advocacy skills. We aim to collaborate with organizations supporting women in the workplace to increase our impact.
