Inspiration
We live in and or around the Athens, Ohio area. We see the effects poverty has in this area and the areas surrounding. We wish to be able to create something to benefit the people in need in Athens, Ohio.
What it does
Our web app is a free, easy to use hub of information for people in the community to use and benefit from. Our app features a way to get help and a way to give help to the community as well.
How we built it
We used a platform called bubble.io for our web app and godaddy.com for our domain.
Challenges we ran into
A few of the biggest challenges we ran into are creating a password reset feature in our web app, as well as our login feature. We wanted to make sure all features currently on our app were functioning properly, so we ran into some big obstacles. Linking everything together was very challenging, but we think it paid off.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The accomplishment that our group is most proud of is our password reset feature. This feature took up the most amount of time. We wanted to have a secure way to reset it and have it mapped into the right locations. Our workflow programming was challenging, but fun to make and having no prior knowledge or experience, everything we put together was an accomplishment in our books.
What we learned
Going into this process, we had no prior experience. Knowing where to start was the hard part, but as we started doing research we learned how to use workflow, databases, design, and basically anything we put into our web applications.
What's next for INeedHelpAthens
After this competition, we plan to continue developing our website. We plan to turn this web app into something that can truly benefit our community and make people's lives easier. We also want to add a donation feature to help support people and local food pantries in the process. In the future, we hope to turn our site into a non profit organization and make care packages to give to the homeless.
