Inspiration
We noticed that it's difficult to find charities to donate to, and once you've found one it's hard to know where and how to do so. We decided to try and make an easy platform to make recurring donations to a charity of your choice.
What it does
Our web application collects charities and organizations into one place, and provides an easy, simple interface for making scheduled donations at a variety of times.
How we built it
We build this app using Express, React, and AntDesign, as well as MongoDB Atlas and Mongoose for database operations. The application is hosted on Heroku.
Challenges we ran into
We initially wanted to create this application using React Native, but found that there were a number of challenges regarding compatibility and networking. We eventually moved to React.js with little time to spare.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We were able to accomplish a lot in a very short span of time, and designed a solid mockup application with record speed. In addition, we all worked on things which were new to us, which added another layer of complexity.
What's next for Impact
We would like to finish out the payment operations and add more options, as well as more user management and profile options. In addition, being able to get charities and charitable organizations directly involved would be a huge step forward.
