Powerful AI-powered matching algorithm with unique blue flame aesthetics

Inspiration

As an international student, the US college admissions process felt hazy, anonymous and full of doubts and fears. When I was applying, I felt like my only options for getting guidance was expensive corporate consultants who cost thousands of dollars and who were decades removed from the process.

IGNITE

IGNITE is a for-students by-students solution to the inequalities of a broken admissions system. Consultants are too expensive for the average applicant. And the average student at a US university has tuition, fees, and expenses to pay, with little time or opportunity for a side income that is flexible and compatible with their studies. Deployed with the use of a uniquely powerful matching algorithm and a fun, confidential quiz, IGNITE matches aspiring applicants with current verified students at their dream schools, going beyond the basic similarities. The AI-powered matching process allows applicants a space to share their fears, their dreams, and to find similarities with people they aspire to. It's a platform where applicants can discuss and connect with not only mentors but also other applicants. It's also a platform where mentorship not only makes a difference but is also affordable; to every student. Session fees cost on average $15-25, with most of the cost consisting of a direct income to the student, with a small, transparent fee to power our ecosystem and spread the fire. IGNITE's philosophy is community-centered, and as such beyond the matching algorithm powering the platform, there are dedicated discussions and blog functionalities, where applicants can confide and seek guidance. Additionally, a campus ambassador program has been set up to increase campus participation from interested students.

Design philosophy

IGNITE's mission is igniting students' future through community-based action and growth. To represent this, we used a blue flame theme, as a blue flame is more rare and stable than a orange flame; crucially, it's also longer-lasting, representing the platform's mission to create matches and support that are not a one-time quick-burn flame but which create, rather, sustainable change.
