Inspiration
Alexa's and smart homes were the motivating inspiration for the project. We wanted to do something similar to that of a smart home but for a workspace such as an office or desk.
What it does
Mathew has several features such as voice-controlled lighting based on a mood. For example users could say "warm" the lights would turn red whereas saying "cool" would turn the lights blue. Other features include voice-powered cable winder and a timer.
How we built it
We prototyped with Arduino Uno R3s while one of us figured out Gemini AI. Once we got past the initial prototyping stage, we moved on to using ESP 32s and began integration.
Challenges we ran into
We had difficulty using wifi to connect the AI with the ESP 32s.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of our resourcefulness as well as our teamwork. We were able to recycle things typically considered garbage and incorporated it into our project as well as help each other out and contributing what we could.
What we learned
We learned how to use AI(Gemini) with hardware (ESP 32) as well as learning c++ for the micro-controllers. We also learned to create a UI using html and css.
What's next for Mathew
For the future, more features could be incorporated into Mathew. These features could include voice powered temperature adjustments, ultrasonic sensors to detect when someone enters or exits in order to turn on and off lights, and motion sensors to detect productivity and display motivational reminders.
