Inspiration:

We were inspired to create IdeaHackerLab by the growing popularity of hackathons and the need for participants to streamline the development process and present their ideas effectively through demo videos. We wanted to provide a platform that modernizes the ideation process, assisting hackers in crafting compelling pitches for their projects by using AI.

What it does:

IdeaHackerLab is a web app that empowers hackathon participants to create impressive demo videos and develop innovative ideas with ease. Through the integration of the GPT-3 AI model, our platform generates valuable insights and suggestions for users, elevating the quality of their project presentations.

Ideation Tool

Users start by submitting their hackathon idea to the ideation tool, getting a starting template for how the finished product could look, with a name, and how it was built, giving them the inspiration to pivot and create something with their own vision. They can then use several of the various generation tools to complete their project.

Research Generation

This tool takes a question as an input and can scrape websites for cited information in a easy to understand format, saving time spent Googling and scrolling through links

Image Generation

Users can generate their own images to come up with logos or graphics for their project

Video Generation

All hackathons require a quick demo video, and this tool can help speed up this usually last-minute process, reducing time spent looking for footage.

Code Generation

Of course, to build the actual product, some code is going to need to be written, and code generation can help when stuck on a bug or when unsure how to implement a feature

Music Generation

This can be a tool for the demo video, marketing, or even the product itself, depending on the need

How we built it:

We built IdeaHackerLab utilizing the T3 stack, which allowed us to create a highly responsive and engaging website. The GPT-3 AI model is integrated into the platform, enabling it to process user-provided input and provide valuable ideation assistance.

Challenges we ran into:

During the development process, we encountered challenges in fine-tuning the AI model to provide accurate and relevant suggestions. We also focused on optimizing the website's performance to ensure a seamless user experience. We also had some challenges using Clerk for user authentication

Accomplishments that we're proud of:

We are proud to have successfully created a user-friendly platform that harnesses the power of AI to help hackathon participants excel in their presentations. IdeaHackerLab has been designed to be accessible to both beginners and experienced hackers, promoting innovation across the hackathon community.

What we learned:

Throughout the development of IdeaHackerLab, we gained valuable insights into AI integration, web app design, and user experience optimization. We learned to adapt and fine-tune the AI model to meet the specific needs of our target users.

What's next for IdeaHackerLab:

In the future, we plan to expand the capabilities of IdeaHackerLab even further. We aim to incorporate additional AI features to offer market analysis and valuable feedback on the feasibility and potential of hackathon projects. We also envision integrating real-time collaboration tools to enhance team productivity during hackathons. Our goal is to continually enhance the platform to support the hackathon community and foster innovation on a global scale. We also plan to add paid tiers in order to fund access to different APIs
