Hypebeast Scanner ft. Google Vision.

Built in Toronto with memes. Thanks Google for the sick API.

Our Inspiration

We noticed a rise in hypebeasts in denial and decided something must be done to prove their fashion choices.

What It Does

Our software takes an uploaded image or takes a photo of the user and analyzes it for the level of hypebeast.

How We Built It

Programmed in Python, we use Google's Vision API to upload images and process the data we receive. Using labels and keywords returned to us, we can determine if an image is hypebeast material. SimpleCV was also used to take photos from the webcam in a laptop. This is all wrapped in HTML5 as our front-end.

Challenges We Ran Into

Initially setting up the Google Vision API was arguably the most difficult task. Missing libraries and authentication errors delayed our progress.

Achievements We're Proud Of

Learning to configure and use an API is something we're proud of. From setting up the back-end to creating the user interface, we all learned a great deal from this experience.

What We Learned

Configuring APIs, CSS, computer vision, machine learning.
