Inspiration
Through the long hours spent working on computer science project, it can be easy to forget to take care of yourself! Sometimes you just need some hygiene tips to remember, and this game allows for that quick reminder in a fun way!
What it does
Hygiene Hero is a quick and fun way for people to learn about the importance of hygiene through something people love! Players can learn hygiene tips in this endless runner game through minigames such as a True-or-False quiz!
How we built it
We used Python , Pygame, and Vscode for the development. As well, some of the graphics were custom and created in Procreate.
Challenges we ran into
The main challenge was learning and understanding Pygame as it was a new set of modules to learn for some of the group members, as they had no experience with it beforehand.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of creating a functioning runner game, complete with animated character sprites, moving background, and a score tracker. Despite appearing simple, it took much effort and new learning to accomplish.
What we learned
We learned that coding as a group rather than an individual is a very different task. It required long sessions of brainstorming and coordination in order to optimize our outcome.
What's next for Hygiene Hero
In the future, we plan to expand the depth of the game to contain elements we originally had planned, but simply did not have the time and skill for. This particularly includes 3 other minigames that were not implemented, which were related to cleaning teeth, doing laundry, and body care. We had created the graphics required for this, such as icons (deodorant, laundry basket, toothbrush), and even the background and effects for one, but completing the mechanics was simply not feasible at this time.
