Inspiration - The main inspiration for this project comes from the fact that even after trying to create awareness about the ill effects of smoking and the possible hazards especially cancer there still hasn't been a decline in the consumption of tobacco. The fact remains that millions of people die every year due to lung and oral cancer due to smoking.

So we thought why not design a filter that can help the people smoke cigarettes safely/ Another project we were working on was to develop a self diagnosis algorithm for Oral Cancer.

What it does- We have designed a filter that has the capability to remove most of the Tar from the cigarette smoke without reducing the amount of nicotine consumed.

The self diagnosis project helps people who are at the risk of having oral cancer perform a simple cost effective self diagnosis in order to detect oral cancer at its early stages.

How we built it- We dissected the cigarette and then attached our filter just before the filter present in the cigarette originally. We performed a test by which we could find out the amount of Tar present in the smoke and we could also see that our filter was able to adsorb a great amount of tar thereby reducing the amount of toxic substance going into our system in turn reducing the risk of cancer.

For our second phase we used IBM Watson's API in order to generate a ML algorithm to classify images if they are cancerous or not.

Challenges we ran into- Prototyping was a major challenge/ Getting a good data set

Accomplishments that we're proud of - We managed to get really good results and our filter worked really well. Another added advantage was the fact that our filter is 100% biodegradable and entirely natural.
