Inspiration
Our team has worked together for a group project at school. When scheduling events it was super difficult because there were a lot of time conflicts and double bookings. We created this app to remedy this issue.
What it does
Have you ever had trouble scheduling an event with friends or for work? Well No more! HUDDLE is a social calendar that uploads your normal everyday calendar and compares it with your friends without compromising your privacy.
How we built it
For this app we used: React Native --Expo, Expo Go App: For Testing, Github: For Collaberation
Challenges we ran into
One of the main challenges of this Hackathon was getting started. Although we have experience coding we have never used React Native. So we took time getting to know the syntax through tons and tons of bugs that had to be fixed.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
As mentioned above we had never used react native and so we are super proud of how far we were able to come in such a short time frame. In addition we are also proud of how far into the backend we were able to get and the teamwork we had.
What we learned
When learning react native we learned of all the different components that go into creating an app. This was helpful because it allowed us to separate the tasks that were required for the app. We also learned the importance of ViewModel. This is a part of our program that manages the front end and the backend.
What's next for Huddle
We though that moving forward a public group event feature would be cool. This way you can connect with people that have similar backgrounds and interests at different events and don't feel alone.
