Inspiration

The inspiration for Hootsuite Nest came from the growing challenge businesses face in connecting authentically with Gen Z audiences. In an era dominated by short-form content and influencer culture, many large companies rely on inauthentic messaging that fails to resonate. Our team recognized the power of trusted content creators and saw an opportunity to create a solution that bridges this gap. The idea for Hootsuite Nest was born as a matchmaking service to foster genuine partnerships between brands and influencers, leveraging Hootsuite's robust analytics to ensure relevance and alignment.

What it does

Hootsuite Nest is a social media matchmaking tool that connects businesses with content creators whose messaging aligns with their brand values. The platform integrates real-time social media trend analytics from Hootsuite to recommend optimal content creators for authentic outreach. Key features include personalized content recommendations, curated creator profiles, and trend-based insights, making it easier for brands to create meaningful, relatable connections with Gen Z audiences.

How we built it

Our team developed Hootsuite Nest during the 2024 UBC Product Management Club x Hootsuite Case Competition. We conducted hands-on research by exploring Hootsuite’s interface and identifying areas for enhancement. Using Figma for UI/UX design and Canva for branding, we rapidly prototyped a cohesive user experience that integrates seamlessly into the existing Hootsuite ecosystem. We also defined user personas to guide our design decisions and crafted a narrative-driven slide deck to present our solution.

Challenges I ran into

Time constraints posed a significant challenge, requiring us to prioritize features and refine our presentation within a limited five-hour window. Another challenge was understanding the complex analytics and social listening tools already offered by Hootsuite to ensure our solution complemented rather than duplicated existing features.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I’m proud of our first-place finish, which validated the effectiveness of our solution. Our team successfully translated complex user research and data into a visually engaging, well-structured presentation. Additionally, I led the branding and UX design, creating a memorable visual identity with a logo that symbolizes growth and authenticity.

What I learned

This experience highlighted the importance of thorough preparation and hands-on exploration. By immersing ourselves in Hootsuite’s platform, we gained insights that informed our product design and user personas. I also learned how critical storytelling is in product management—presenting a clear, relatable narrative helped our solution stand out to judges.

What's next for Hootsuite Nest

Future enhancements include deeper AI-powered content matching and expanding compatibility with emerging social platforms. Additionally, integrating more robust metrics to measure engagement and ROI for businesses and creators will further enhance the tool’s value.
