Inspiration
Communities have found it more difficult to discuss and circulate information about schools, club organizations, and activities since the COVID-19 pandemic began. To communicate important information, multiple parent WhatsApp groups were created. However, not all parents/students were able to join those groups. So, we designed an app, “Hood” which enables numerous users to exchange information and communicate easily; to prevent the feeling of being excluded.
What it does
This app will allow a group of people to join and connect on a platform where they could learn about what other schools or organizations are doing and look for educational, career, or formal application opportunities.
How we built it
We mainly used Figma for our design but we also took some help from youtube to discover the features. We loved the frame feature where you can select whichever product like iPhone 11 and etc you want and still fit your design to it.
Challenges we ran into
Some of the challenges we ran into: not having background knowledge about Figma which made it harder for us to create the app, bad internet connection slowed down the process of designing, and long sitting hours made us restless. It was also challenging to discover the limitations of Figma such as user input and as well as the shorthand features.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
This was the first project that Adithi and I participated in together outside school. It was really fun creating graphics on Figma for the first time and we are really happy with the outcome. We both are glad to finish the hackathon with this project successfully.
What we learned
While creating our designs we mainly learned that things take time, patience, and grit. Those are the important qualities to be successful in a task in which you're involved in. We also learned new features and collaborations on Figma.
What's next for [project name]
We look forward to learning more in-depth about developing an app. By doing that we can design “Hood” as a more user-friendly app with extra features and functionalities
