Inspiration

In today's fast-moving markets, news drives investment opportunity. While this is well-understood in traditional markets such as stocks, real estate often lags behind in responding to market-moving headlines. The solution? HomeSteadr! We can bridge this gap, using AI to transform breaking news into actionable property insights. By analyzing news data and market signals, we help investors identify high-potential opportunities before the market catches up, while providing an intuitive portfolio and watchlist management system.

What it does

Homesteadr is an AI-powered real estate investment platform that:

  • Analyzes live news and market data to identify investment opportunities
  • Uses natural language processing to extract location data from news articles
  • Maps potential real estate investments based on news impact
  • Provides comprehensive property analytics and market insights
  • Includes portfolio management and watchlist features
  • Displays affected areas and properties on an interactive map interface

How we built it

  • Frontend: Vite/React + TS + Shadcn components
  • Backend: Express
  • Database: Firebase
  • APIs: Googlemaps API, Tavily API, Exa AI API, Groq

Challenges we ran into

  • Deciding what metrics determine a good investment opportunity
  • Handling dynamic data that was often missing fields we needed

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Overcoming countless roadblocks when trying to parse data from pages
  • Integrating various APIs together successfully despite many errors

What we learned

  • Learned the importance of UI/UX Design and placement
  • Learned how to implement various AI - API calls to achieve our goals
  • How to divide tasks and work together under time-constraints
  • Learned to plan out the architecture and map out the workflow

What's next for HomeSteadr

  • More animations/transitions and simple / user-friendly UI
  • Deploy on cloud services
  • Directly connect buyers with sellers all on our platform
  • Implement machine learning model refinement to improve data accuracy
  • Mobile App dev
