Inspiration

Studying nowadays is a real hassle. Let's face it, the truth is that with a world full of so many interesting things to do, the last place any student ever wants to find themselves is in the books, especially if those books are online or on a device. Social Media, Mobile and PC games, the internet itself are all distractions that thrive off students or workmen/women who would honestly rather slack off than do what's good for them. It would take a magic potion of a sort to cure society of its mobile attention parasite, enter Hocus Focus.

What it does

Hocus Focus is a study software built to reinforce a more disciplined study mindset onto the user by disabling all applications on the device except a select number of websites on a browser of the user's choice and the cell function strictly for emergencies. The user sets how long he/she wants to remain distraction free and how long his/her breaks in between will be, therefore letting the app know how long it should run and when it should turn off. The user can also select apps that they would like to use during their break, but once the break is over, the software will disable the app once more and will continue to do so until the study session is done.

How we built it

It was built in Android Studio using the Java programming language.
