Inspiration What inspired us was creating a more sustainable future and allowing people in more rural places get easier access to transportation.
What it does
First you make an account and then log in. After this if you are a passenger you select the time that you want to get a ride and where. If you are a driver you log your ride and it tells you how much money you have made on the app so far.
How we built it
We used the software MIT App Inventor which is a block based coding language. We used several different screens so that there are many different functionalities of the app. We made sure to award drivers with higher salaries for driving longer distances to incentivize picking up drivers in more rural places. We also paid drivers more for using hybrid or electric vehicles instead of gas.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into sharing variables between pages and we learned that we had to use a tiny db. We also ran into challenges setting up the navigation API.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud that we were able to overcome some of our challenges and learn a lot more about how navigation works in apps.
What we learned
We learned how navigation works in apps and how to use tiny data bases to share information in projects.
What's next for HNTB Challenge
We will make the application run smoother and add more functionality so that it is more accessible or people who may need accommodations.
