Inspiration

Construction managers struggle with daily reports—managing data sensitivity, insights, and time constraints while constantly on the move. After speaking with industry experts, I saw the need for a smarter, AI-powered solution, which led to Hive.

What Hive Is Hive makes reporting easy, customizable, and intelligent with:

1. Customizable reports—format, highlight, and control what’s shared.
2. AI chatbot & voice assistant—get instant insights, hands-free.
3. Seamless workflow—manage reports without needing a laptop.

How We Built It Data & APIs: Integrated Riskcast’s API and dataset (JSON format) to provide real-time reporting insights. Front-End: Developed using TypeScript with Next.js as the React framework and dndkit for seamless drag-and-drop functionality. AI Integration: Used OpenAI’s GPT-4o mini to analyze PDFs and transcribe data for instant AI-driven insights.

Challenges Balancing customization with ease of use. Integrating AI for real-time, relevant insights. Building a functional product under tight time constraints.

What We Learned User research is key—talking to experts help identify what is more urgent and should be prioritized, so we could focus on core features for an MVP. AI can transform outdated processes—making reporting faster & smarter.

What’s Next? We’re looking to expand Hive’s AI capabilities and bring it beyond construction to other industries that struggle with manual reporting. The goal? Help professionals work smarter, faster, and with confidence.
