Inspiration

During Chillenium 2017, we were given the challenge of creating a game within 48 hours. We began to focus on a story-based yet art-oriented approach to solve this challenge. This is where the idea of creating "His Name is Turon" started.

What it does

Acting like a simple point-and-click, the user enters into the virtual environment while wearing a VR headset and using Oculus Touch controllers to navigate through an extraterrestrial space with different items to click on to handle events.

How we built it

We developed the game with Wilinia creating the backgrounds for the environment, Esther creating the 3D models in Quill, and Natalie to handle the coding aspects in Unity.

Challenges we ran into

Because Quill is a relatively brand-new tool in VR development, we came across the challenge of correcting the color values for the models being imported from Quill to Unity. We finally we able to debug the issue using the shader file to correct the .fbx attributes imported from Quill.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We were able to develop a rather beautiful game given the time restraints of the hackathon.

What we learned

Time management, digging through APIs, and testing the product before its submission deadline.
