Inspiration
When brainstorming projects. We wanted to make an application that would would empower women and also be a social good to your community. We noticed that female-identifying small business owners are very under-represented. Only 16% of Canadian small business owners are women! We wanted this web application to be able to showcase those 16% and allow them to promote their talents and creativity through out platform. He hope that by creating this web application that it would allow female-identifying small business owners to post and connect with their audience without the pressures of the male-dominated field or staying relevant.
What it does
Our web application allows female-identifying small business owners to sell products, promote their business, and create community posts to connect with its community. It allows our users to find local businesses and events, interact with blog posts, and attend events. This is so we can showcase the talents of local women, promote local businesses through our platform, and build a community to connect like-minded folks.
How we built it
We built our prototype on Figma, then we implemented a Python Flask Framework to code this app. Our next steps is to deploy our web application to a cloud platform
Challenges we ran into
Some challenges we're using GIT for the first time, figuring out how to use our skills to help the project, and getting everyone on the same page. Another challenge we faced was trying to work with html/css and flask for the first time.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Some accomplishments we are proud of are the designs we came up with that will be featured within the app, learning how to use new programming languages, and researching new tools that will help make our web application better.
What we learned
We learned that everyone has different talents, skills, and abilities. By using this to our advantage, we were able to create something great that we can all be proud of
What's next for entreprenHER
The Future of entreprenHER is creating and turning this into a mobile app, expanding this project to reach a larger global audience, and adding features like implementing google maps API.
