Inspiration

We were inspired by a desire to simplify the process of finding a home that meets both individual preferences and financial limits.

What it does

'HermitKeys' is an easy-to-use site that provides individualized housing recommendations based on customers' annual income, desired county, and unit size.

How we built it

The front end of this project was built with the React framework, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. For the backend, we used Python to create an API that can be accessed via Axios.

Challenges we ran into

One of the most difficult challenges we faced was the learning curve involved with integrating the front end and back end, as none of us had prior expertise with Django or similar frameworks. Furthermore, we were all new to React, so we had to devote a significant amount of time to understanding the basics and setting it up. Finally, we had to manually create our own data tables because getting pre-tidied data was difficult which proved to be time-consuming.

What's next for HermitKeys

In the future, we hope to expand our reach to additional counties and introduce features that allow users to filter by building age. We also want to connect our platform with sites like Zillow to the user experience and make it even easier for the everyday person to find their ideal home.
