Inspiration`

We were inspired to create this project because we wanted to try something different relating to the prompt. The theme of this hackathon really interested us because we have not seen anything like it before, so we wanted to add gaming to art since we think it is a great way to learn. We think the most important way to preserve art is to raise awareness so more people can become interested in the area, and we were inspired by that to create HeritageHeal.

What it does

This project is a game that teaches people about different art restoration methods, their costs, and when to use them. The game will explain to the user why the method was the correct method, which educates the user while also presenting it in a fun game.

How we built it

We built HeritageHeal using React JS, which uses a combination of javascript and html. Instead of regular, we used tailwindcss. The functionality of the website was mainly written using javascript, which was great because we were able to learn more about it.

Challenges we ran into

One of the main challenges we faced was figuring out how to link images to the correct restoration methods and validate user selections accurately. It required careful planning and testing to ensure that when users clicked on an image, the correct method was identified. Simplifying this process while maintaining accuracy was crucial for providing a smooth user experience. Through experimentation and testing different methods, we managed to develop a solution that effectively addressed this challenge, enhancing the functionality and usability of HeritageHeal.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud that we were able to overcome the challenges we faced and that we were able to see how art and technology can come together to create a project!

What we learned

We learned a lot about javascript, especially more about indexes, lists, and conditionals.

What's next for HeritageHeal

We would love to expand HeritageHeal to teach users about more art restoration methods as well as adding more features to make the website more complex and exciting for the user to use.
