Inspiration

This project began with a spark of concern. The vibrant tapestry of human languages is rapidly losing threads, with many indigenous languages teetering on the brink of extinction. These languages hold immense cultural value, carrying stories, traditions, and knowledge passed down through generations. Witnessing this loss ignited a desire to create a tool for preservation and revitalization. Fueled by this passion, we delved into the world of language learning and artificial intelligence.

What it does

The app utilizes an AI chatbot to help revitalize endangered languages and enhance cultural experiences.

How we built it

We utilised gemini api to get the chatbot functionalities while using nodejs to train the ai on the specifics of the languanges for the demo. We used normal web development languages to build the frontend of the application

Challenges we ran into

Limited Data: A significant hurdle was the scarcity of data for many endangered languages. Cultural Sensitivity: It was crucial to ensure the project remained respectful and collaborative with the indigenous communities.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Being able to make our first ai enabled application is our highlight of the project. This has opened so many ideas we would like to implement in future.

What's next for Heritage

Heritage will be moving to add additional indeginous languages and a lack of data on the languages is a major problem we have to solve. We want to preserve these unique cultures and have as many people in the future to be able to know of their existence and learn about their practices, language and experiences.
