Inspiration
We started playing around with Azure's cognitive services when we came up for the idea of Hentaigana.
What it does
It will take an image of Japanese calligraphy and translate it to English using Azure's Cognitive and Translation services.
How we built it
We used name.com for our domain, Visual Studio for development, .NET Core 2.2, Azure Cognitive and Translation services.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into limitations with Azure Cognitive Services mid-development. While it can detect handwritten English characters, it cannot detect handwritten Japanese characters. A workaround we have for that is using a pre-trained neural network to detect the characters.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We've all learned a lot about Azure and participating in this event.
What we learned
We learned how to use Azure's development tools and support. Additionally we learned quite a bit from the Github and Algorithms Interview workshops that were offered.
