What Inspired Us

We were inspired by the needs that our communities face, and wanted to create something that would be able to extend volunteer efforts across different locations. Additionally, we wanted an easy way for people to network and reach out to others for help, as a way for people to acclimate to the areas they live in.

What it does

**This website help allows people to post volunteer events happening in their area, and allows other users to see this information and sign up if they wanted to. By helping with this exchange of information, people can easily communicate and build bonds, as well as improve the communities they are in. This website can help organize events such as park cleanings, beach cleanings, tutoring, and more.

How we built it

We built this website by using a mixture of CSS, HTML and Javascript as well as using firebase as our database to store information. The frontend development involves the use of HTML and CSS to build our webpages and allow users to make accounts and sign in. While our backend development is still in progress, we intend to be able to progress further and create a fully functioning site.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into challenges involving the backend development. The use of firebase and our code involving it needs crucial improvements. However, we are determined to make it work.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of being able to work as a team, despite being strangers a few days ago. The creation of a website was entirely new to us, but we were able to make things work and we have made steady progress.

What we learned

We learned aspects of programming that we have never laid eyes on beforehand. We learned the necessary components of building a fully functional website.

What's next for HelpingHand

HelpingHands will continue to develop and will become even better in the future.
