Inspiration
What inspired us to create HelloPatients was the vast number of Canadian healthcare cases where patients in the emergency room often feel confused about their wait times and priorities and, most importantly, anxious about what'll happen to them. We wanted to create a web app tailored to giving support to these patients and hope to alleviate the stigma around emergency rooms.
What it does
HelloPatient assists patients seeking emergency healthcare by providing clear waiting times, clarifying queue status, and most importantly comforting patients!
How we built it
We built HelloPatients by implementing Flask as our back-end, which takes user data generated by an API to our front-end, which we built with ReactJS, which accurately displays waiting times.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into challenges calling the API given to us and displaying the corresponding information that should go with each case. We've also encountered problems with Git merging and coordinating our teamwork.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud to be able to create a front end that can accurately and clearly represent the data given in the back end. We were able to overcome several challenges hindering our progress to completing this draft.
What's next for HelloPatient
Further and more complex implementation of its current and potential features. For example, in what ways can we keep patients less bored? How can we improve our chatbot to be more comforting and reduce patient anxiety?
