Inspiration
Depression is the leading cause of disability in the world. We have friends who suffer from clinical depression and experience suicidal thoughts. One of the best way to help someone with depression is simply to be supportive. So in an effort to help our friends and others who feel the same, we created Headspace.
Our motive is to create a safe space for everyone going through tough times.
What it does
- You can join our anonymous video server on jitsi to get the support, advice, inspiration and motivation you need to make the best of your life.
- You can play pictionary with friends for that extra shot of Oxytocin.
- You can find help if you are feeling suicidal.
- You can find resources to help yourself, to help a friend or for self evaluation.
- You can join our video server anytime you want directly from your browser, no login required, and find a wonderful and helpful community to support you.
- You can use the depression sub-reddit to share your problems or to help others beacuse no one needs to struggle with these issues alone.
How we built it
We used:
- Canva for all the designs
- Jitsi meet for 24*7 support meetings
- Html, css and love to build the website
- GitHub pages to host the website
Challenges we ran into
We did an extensive survey, and talked to a lot of people with depression to understand what they need and then integrated all those things into a website for example having 24*7 meeting groups, providing support for people with suicidal indicates, and having a safe space for people to interact with without feeling judged.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Creating a tool that can help our friends and everyone who needs a place to feel heard.
What we learned
We learnt crucial steps involved in UI/UX designing and testing.
What's next for Headspace
Separate rooms for separate conditions such as ADHD, ADD, Anxiety, Insomnia, etc.
