Inspiration

Consumer spending is a key driving force in the economy and the key component of GDP. Consumer spending pattern changed vigorously over a longer period. 70% of the consumers across the globe lacks financial awareness of where the money is really going or how they spend it. The real reason you track your expenses is to create financial awareness. If you don’t know where your money goes or how you spend it, you won’t know what habits you can change in order to make your money work for you. Even your small daily expenses can make you blow your budget. If consumers spend too much of their income now, future economic growth could be compromised because of insufficient savings and investment.

What it does

HawkEye can help you reach a completely new level of financial knowledge and preparedness. It automatically tracks and categorizes every expense you make on a linked credit or debit card by scanning a bill. HawkEye track your monthly cash flow with an ability to break down expenses by category and dig in deeper where you see concerning spending habits. Easy-to-navigate design but is powerful for tracking your finances overall, particularly your expenses. Users can also quickly see what they spent with a few screen taps.

How I built it

We have built HawkEye as a mobile app. An intuitive categorized display of your transactions in a single click of your bill. HawkEye built on IONIC 4 Angular 7. The image is processed and converted to text using Azure Compute Vision and used machine learning to categorize the bill. App will check for a transaction in your linked bank account for the date and transaction amount extracted from the bill and depicts a much deeper break down expenses by category.

Challenges I ran into

Extracting the bill is the very important challenge we faced. To categorise from the random text generated from a bill.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

We could create an intuitive mobile app by simply scanning the bill and will get a self analysis of spending habit.

What I learned

Through the research we could analyse the global spending pattern and how it relates to the economy. A balance spending pattern will helps you attain economic stability of the country in order to remove the effect of inflation and recession. We could learn new technologies(IONIC4,ANGULAR 7,Machine Learning) and able to consume FFDC API’s and could implement our idea into a working prototype.

What's next for HawkEye

The future of HawkEye would be more live insights of overspends, forecast budget plans based on the market trends. We are planning to make the payment in a click of your bill with the virtual cards linked to the Hawkeye.
