Inspiration
We wanted to create a platform that could simplify the way small businesses and event teams manage their orders and operations. During hackathons, we noticed how teams often lose track of deliveries, logistics, and updates. So, we decided to build a system that combines a modern web interface, a real-time dashboard, and a solid PHP–MySQL backend — all optimized for speed and usability.
What it does
Hacktoon Manager is a full-stack web application that allows admins and operators to manage orders, users, and system data in real time.
Operators can register and monitor active orders.
Admins can review stats, generate reports, and track performance visually through charts and analytics.
Secure login system with role-based access.
Responsive interface built for clarity, speed, and usability.
How we built it
We developed Hacktoon Manager using:
Frontend: HTML, CSS, JavaScript (with dynamic visual elements and real-time data updates).
Backend: PHP with a modular API structure (/api endpoints).
Database: MySQL with structured relations for operators, orders, and activity logs.
Server Environment: XAMPP (Apache + MySQL) for local deployment.
Version Control: GitHub for collaboration and version tracking.
Challenges we ran into
Setting up stable database connections between the PHP API and the front-end.
Designing a user interface that looks modern but remains functional and lightweight.
Handling session management and security to protect user data.
Debugging asynchronous requests and ensuring the dashboard updates in real time.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Built a fully working system from scratch with database integration and API communication.
Created a clean, interactive dashboard that helps visualize data clearly.
Implemented role-based access and secure authentication.
Designed a platform that can scale and adapt for different use cases (restaurants, inventory systems, event logistics, etc.).
What we learned
How to connect PHP backends to modern frontends efficiently.
The importance of clean UI/UX for user adoption.
How to handle real-time updates and database synchronization smoothly.
Teamwork under pressure — how each role (design, backend, frontend) matters in the final product.
What's next for Hacktoon Manager
We plan to:
Deploy Hacktoon Manager on a public hosting server.
Add graphical analytics dashboards powered by Chart.js or similar libraries.
Integrate email and notification systems for order updates.
Expand API endpoints for mobile and IoT integration.
Polish the UI for a production-ready version worthy of hackathon gold.
