Inspiration
We’ve met many people believing that STEM is dull or boring. And we want to change that mindset. In this Hackathon, our team focuses on the important of STEM Education. We understand the impact of STEM to our daily life. However, we can also see that kids are showing lack of interested in STEM. Our goals is to make STEM more fun and interesting for people, K-12 specifically. And what is more fun and attract kids more than memes! We want to change the way kids think about STEM. Turn something dull and boring in their mind into something fun and relatable for them.
What it does
Relatable and daily use are our main concerns for the application. Punny is a memes site, tailored for STEM. For a long time, people use memes to express their sense of humor as a stress coping mechanism. With Punny, we provide a space for students to de-stress after lecture. While creating memes, students can recall the information they've learnt in class, helping them to remember it for a longer period of time.
Challenges I ran into
We tried to connect our web application to MongoDB Atlas but it didn't connect. So, we moved back to localhost MongoDB :(
What's next for Punny App
The idea rather simple, but to us, it's a practical one. We want to finish the website and launch it in the near future. And hoping the site will continue to grow itself.
