Inspiration
We were struggling to come up with an idea for our hackathon, so we decided to create an app that would generate hackathon ideas based on our responses to a survey.
What it does
Our idea was that the app itself would do the researching and collecting of information, and we would use a bot to formulate an idea that best matches our interests. Later on during the hackathon, we thought of another functional capability our app could have. The app would use your responses to the survey and find the best match from another person or group of people (max 3) that best match your responses and give you the option to team up with them.
How we built it
We built it using Reactjs.
Challenges we ran into
The main challenge we ran into was that most of our team was not well-versed in React, so it took a long time to debug and actually implement the app idea.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of the idea we came up with, as we thought it was a cool and innovative idea.
What we learned
Our team as a whole have learned that we still have yet much more to learn in computer science in order to accomplish our dreams.
What's next for HackIdeas
After learning more about Reactjs and other frameworks, it is very plausible that we may pitch this app to HackDavis to provide another functionality to finding teammates, as we believe it would complement the "beginner-friendly" notion of the hackathon.
