What it does
This web application allows the user to get a high level overview of Bbl and MCF production in their organization. This dashboard includes production information from the amount produced from wells, formations, county and towns. The web application was created for the ConocoPhillips track.
How we built it
This application was built using Wix as the front end and utilized Velo to get our dataset displayed into our web app. The dataset we used was stored in our Mongodb server.
Challenges we ran into
Our team members wanted to try to tackle this project using Velo for the MLH challenge, but none of us had experience using it so it was a bit of a learning curve. It was also difficult for us to find a decent dataset that had clean data.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We were happy that we were able to get some sort of data visualization in our front end application. It was fun being able to tackle a challenge while learning some new technologies.
What we learned
We learned how to utilize Mongodb to store our data and how to use Velo to get that data to our front-end. We also learned about limiting scope creep in our project to make the task more manageable.
What's next for HackConoco
If given more time, we would like to be able to add some CRUD functionality to the app so that users can perform CRUD operations using the front-end. We would also like to look at building our charts with Chartjs so that we have a little more control over the charts/dashboards we produced.
