Inspiration

Our inspiration for "Hack Together" comes from the idea of injecting an element of randomness and spontaneity into the process of project selection for developers. Drawing parallels with the popular swiping mechanism of platforms like Tinder, we aim to make the project selection process more engaging. The theme of shooting into the darkness encapsulates the unpredictable yet exciting nature of exploring new projects.

What it does

"Hack Together" is a platform designed exclusively for developers seeking interesting projects. Users are presented with a series of project descriptions, and they can swipe left or right based on their interest. Swiping right indicates a match, suggesting a potential alignment between the developer's preferences and the project's characteristics. This process adds an element of surprise, encouraging developers to explore projects they might not have considered otherwise.

How we built it

Our platform is built using a combination of web technologies, incorporating a user-friendly interface for seamless swiping. The backend utilizes a database to manage and present a diverse range of projects to the developers.

We are using svelte and CSS for the frontend and for the backend incorporation we are using firebase

Challenges we ran into

One of the most significant challenges we encountered during the Hack Together project was the need to pivot midday and embark on a completely new direction. Initially, our concept was a completely different type of application as well as focusing in more on the cybersecurity side. However, as we delved deeper into the development process, it became evident that the idea lacked the spark we were aiming for – the essence of shooting into the darkness.

Because of this thought, we completely pivoted our project to a more web dev-oriented style. The ability to adapt and pivot midday became a testament to our team's hard work.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud to have successfully implemented a dynamic and entertaining platform that follows the theme of randomness into the often methodical process of project selection. Achieving a seamless user experience while maintaining the swiping mechanism is a significant accomplishment for our team.

What we learned

The most important thing we learned was ensuring that communication and collaboration was on point while working. Even a slight gap in the communication could possibly create issues.

What's next for Hack Together

If we are planning to improve this idea then we are planning to incorporate machine learning algorithms where it would provide the user with the different projects that they would possibly want to collaborate on.
