Inspiration

Love of the gym!

What it does

Scrapes cameras and then uses AI to count the number of people displayed in cameras. Could be used to estimate how busy the gym is.

How we built it

With python, http requests, and YOLOv8 with ultralytics.

Challenges we ran into

Getting the AI to behave. It over and or under counted a lot.

What's next for Yolov8 Occupancy Counter

Could get integrated into UF Recsports. Especially if we is improved. Having an accurate count at all times could help people who want to workout avoid peak hours at the gym.
